Mission Statement

It is the intention of camprice.com to offer the camera buyer, whether collector or user, a comprehensive, reliable, fast and efficient way of judging the current world-wide value of photographic equipment, accessories, and literature. Although emphasis is placed on collectable equipment, users searching for pricing information concerning more modern cameras will find camprice.com very useful. In addition, the inclusion of relatively modern equipment allows the establishment of a meaningful database of values for when these cameras do finally become collector's items.

It is our firm belief that with the advent of the Internet, camera price level differences should become the stuff of legend. Collectors are already seeing evidence of this on sites such as eBay© and on the rec.photo.marketplace newsgroups. The person who has access to the most up to date pricing information will have the best chance of taking advantage of current market conditions in his or her local area.

Why do I need this online service?

There are three main reasons:

The first is quite simply because the hard copy references which you are used to using, such as McKeown's and the Hove Blue Book are outdated as soon as they are printed. Not only that, but you have to wait TWO years for the next edition. In this rapidly changing electronic world, two years can be a lifetime.

The second is value for money. The Camprice.com online subscription service costs less than the bookshelf variety, and gives you some things that hard copy price guides could never offer.

The third and maybe the most important is quality of information. With Camprice.com you have the experience and knowledge  available from various experts in the field of camera collecting. From the editor on down, Camprice.com works for you and with you because we are one of YOU!

With the Camprice.com online subscription you can:

  1. Log on any time, anywhere you have an internet connection, and check the LATEST pricing information on any camera, lens, outfit, accessory or collectible literature in the database.

  2. You can place a one week advertisement attached to any camera, lens, outfit, accessory or collectible literature listed in the database, for free.

  3. You can search for a camera, lens, outfit, accessory or collectible literature based on estimated year of manufacture, place of manufacture, model designation, film type, manufacturer name, or combinations of any of the above.

  4. You can easily add interesting or important factual information or an image to a listing, and be acknowledged for your efforts.

  5. You can view the prices in the database calculated at the current rate in any internationally traded currency. Foreign currency exchange rates are updated at least once every 24 hours.

  6. Free identification service. If you have a photographic item and don't know its value or history, provide us with a description and an image and we will research the item and provide you with an emailed response. We will even add it to the database, and acknowledge your contribution.

  7. Up to the minute news in the collecting field. Reports on camera fairs across the globe, complete with pictures. Dates of camera fairs worldwide.

  8. Articles of interest written by fellow collectors, and specialists in specific areas of photograpahic history.

  9. A links page with YOUR site listed in addition to other photographica related sites

  10. Camprice.com will offer to act as arbitrator at no cost for subscribers involved in camera related disputes. All arbitration comments must be made in the Camprice.com arbitration forum. Comments received outside of the forum will be ignored.

  11. You can post a direct URL link for an item in the database, to aid in the selling, buying or describing of that item.
